About Us

The website is the work of Karen Samuels, a resident of the Lehigh Valley. Karen is co-author of the books Images of America: Lower Saucon Township, Images of America: South Bethlehem, Bethlehem Postcards, 100 Years of Caring, A History of the Auxiliary of the St. Luke’s Hospital Charity Ball and author of the forthcoming book (September 2013), Legendary Locals of Bethlehem. She writes a Bethlehem history column for the Bethlehem Press newspaper. Karen is past president of the Lower Saucon Township Historical Society. Under her guidance the restoration of the Lutz-Franklin Schoolhouse was completed in 2006. She is a strong supporter of the Lehigh Valley historical societies, big and small.

This website provides a wide range of material on the history of the Lehigh Valley for genealogists, local historians and the curious. There are many interesting websites that cover specific aspects of Lehigh Valley history. The goal of this website is to bring all the pieces together in one site. The website includes materials from books, journals, essays and photographs.

This is an ambitious project and will take some time to complete. The historical information will be organized by Lehigh and Northampton counties then by the cities, townships and boroughs with in each county. There are 38 cities, townships and boroughs in Northampton County and 25 in Lehigh County. Visitors are welcome to submit comments or questions through the website email address.
